SHOT 1 — Fade In: Darkness. A Single Flame.

• Visual: Pure black screen. A lone match flares, held by an unseen hand.

• Motion: Slow burn. The fire spreads—not just light, but warning.

 

SHOT 2 — Minneapolis Burns (2020 Archive Reimagined)

• Visual: Stylized footage: rioters silhouetted by flames, smoke swallowing streetlights, the police station engulfed.

 

SHOT 3 — Ghost in the Flames

• Visual: Out of the fire: a ghostly figure—Karl Marx—emerges. Barely visible at first, forming through smoke.

• Motion: His image flickers—part man, part symbol

 

SHOT 4 — The Spiral Begins

• Visual: Orlando stands before a burning manuscript titled The Communist Manifesto. The pages twist and curl.

• Motion: Camera spirals down into the text as it burns—revealing a pit.

SHOT 5 — Infernal Rings of History

• Visual: Fire-etched concentric rings labeled: Paradise. Exile. Hell. Each holds visions from Marx’s life—youthful idealism, revolutionary zeal, sickly decline.

• Motion: Descending through rings as archival footage, sketches, and stylized reenactments flicker in and out.

SHOT 6 — Marx’s Legacy: A New Kind of Fire

• Visual: Split screen—left: gulags, Tiananmen, Cuba; right: BLM graffiti, shattered windows, masked protestors.

• Motion: Flames leap across the frame, joining both past and present into a single inferno.

• Voiceover:
  “From class warfare to identity rage—Marx’s fire mutated, but it never died.”

 

SHOT 7 — The Director’s Reckoning

• Visual: Robert Orlando seated in his studio, stacks of books behind him—Dante, Marx, Arendt, Spengler.

• Motion: Candle flickers beside him. He stares into camera, then turns toward a monitor playing riot footage.

• Voiceover (Orlando):
  “This film is not just a documentary. It’s an exorcism.”

 

SHOT 8 — Specters of Marx Speak

• Visual: Stylized animations of quotes appearing mid-air—“A spectre is haunting Europe…” dissolving into smoke.

• Audio: Echoing whispers—Marx, Derrida, Hess, Arendt.

• Motion: The words burn and vanish.

 

SHOT 9 — To Hell With Him

• Visual: The title To Hell with Karl Marx branded into molten steel.

• Motion: Sparks fly, metal hisses.

• Voiceover (Orlando):
  “Marx promised a paradise. What we got was the smoke of Hell.”

 

SHOT 10 — Final Fade to Black

• Visual: Ashes falling silently in slow motion.
